Plot Area Map
Find the plot on the satellite map, tap each corner, and see its area in square feet, gaj, square metres, acres and bigha, with the length of every side. Nothing you draw is saved.
How to measure a plot
- Search for the colony or village, or tap My location when you are standing at the plot.
- Zoom in until you can see the plot boundary, walls or boundary stones.
- Tap each corner in order, going round the plot. The area updates as you go. Drag any corner to fine-tune it.
- Compare the result with the sale deed, the approved layout and the khatauni. Use Copy link to send the outline to your family or lawyer.
How accurate is it?
The area is calculated from the corners you tap, so it is only as good as the satellite photo and your taps. Satellite photos can be a few metres off and several years old, and walls or trees can hide the true corners. For a typical house plot that can mean an error of several percent. Use it to check that a quoted size is in the right range, not as a survey. Before you pay, have the plot measured on the ground and check it against the documents. Our plot size converter handles unit conversions.
The elevation check
Check elevation looks up the ground height at each corner from the free SRTM 30-metre elevation model. It helps spot a plot that sits clearly lower than the land around it, which can mean waterlogging in the monsoon. The data is on a 30-metre grid with an error of a few metres, so small differences inside one plot mean little. Ask neighbours about flooding and look for water marks on nearby walls.
